I, too, remember being in music class that day at Hill Jr. High, but I don't remember Miss Howell.

I just went to your old Blogspot blogs because I was looking at one of MY old blogs ("Medicana") and you had commented. So I just found you here on Substack! I don't know if you remember me but I'm Mauigirl from Mauigirl's Meanderings and Medicana. So glad you're still writing. I was a Junior in high school when Kent State happened. I remember I sat at a big table with 3 Senior students and that's all we talked about that day. So horrific.

I remembered being at a Bronco game around 1971 that they won in the last seconds with a touchdown pass to the back corner of the end zone. The crowd went over the top crazy. My friend and I being a little too cool and controlled to go crazy left quickly. In the car going home we talked about how crazy the crowds reaction was and how superior we were for staying cool and calm. That night watching the sportscast of game highlights they showed the play and there in the background are my friend and I going absolutely nuts, jumping, screaming, hugging each other and strangers, throwing cups, dancing, high fiving. This was only a few hours after the event and I had a complete opposite memory of it.
